Hi! I am Alexis Ryan, a senior Art Education major. As a future art teacher, I have a creative process for both my lesson plans and my personal work.
When considering creativity challenges for my students, I primarily focus on color theory, proper technique, and historical references.
I normally ponder on what technique my students need to learn, how I can incorporate practice with value or color, and what connections we can make to historical and contemporary work.
The creative process for my personal work focuses on using these elements to drive a concept. Since my work is normally centered around the conceptual use of figures, I draw inspiration from personal experiences, social interactions, and even media. I also enjoy juxtaposing fully rendered elements with contour line work. I meticulously plan all of my work before starting, but I allow it to shift as I am creating.
